High tex solutions – for customers and the environment

Sustainable management – that can mean many things. At JUMBO-Textil we associate economic, social and ecological aspects with the term: we seek to be successful as an enterprise. We take our social responsibility seriously – as an employer, as a partner in the supply chain and as part of society as a whole. And we strive for a business approach that does not burden our environment and climate.

Living responsibility

Safety, Fairness, Respect … In our corporate policy we have laid down how we want to work with each other and with our partners. The importance we attach to the well-being of our employees is not only reflected in occupational health and safety and in our daily interactions. A free lunch, sports courses and back training – we express our appreciation with these offers, too.

Meaningful use of resources

Meeting environmental management standard DIN EN ISO 14001 is a matter of course for us in terms of ecological sustainability. In addition, we seek to make our value chain, from raw materials through production to waste disposal, more environmentally and climate-aware.

Reinforcing the circular economy

For us as textile manufacturers, ecological sustainability begins with the raw materials. We have developed initial samples from recycled materials. Our experience with them and the feedback from our customers is very promising. We are staying tuned. The objective: technical narrow textiles made of natural or synthetic fibres, which are made from one hundred percent recycled materials. We were able to reduce our textile waste by 26 percent through various measures. Another contribution towards meaningful use of resources. Many of our products are also certified according to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®. This is good for the people who use the textiles and for our employees.

Reducing CO2 output

We plan our appointments and travel to avoid travel where possible and keep trips as short as possible. Our vehicle fleet consists of modern, economical vehicles with the latest technology and efficiency class A. It is quite possible that our next fleet will run on electricity. Or on hydrogen.

In the canteen we only offer a meal with meat once a week. We offer meat-free meals on all other days. After a short time even the sceptics enjoyed the change. And it reduces our CO2 footprint.

Protecting biodiversity

We don’t have to do much to protect biodiversity, the numerous insects and animals on the large wildflower meadow around our headquarters do that themselves. This year it will be enlarged even further: the town of Sprockhövel is providing the land, and JUMBO-Textil the seeds.

Challenging sustainability targets

“Living sustainability as a company is an ongoing task, a continuous process”, explains our environmental coordinator, Rouven Dreypelcher. “At JUMBO-Textil we always keep an eye on our sustainability goals and regularly check whether our measures are suitable for achieving them.”

We will change some habits or procedures to this end. With all the changes that the process may bring for us in the company, there is one thing that will not change: at JUMBO-Textil we offer our customers first-class, sophisticated technical narrow textiles that can do exactly what our customers expect – and sometimes even more.
